The Lift

As you might have noticed I’ve been posting about this new podcast series on Facebook and Twitter called The Lift. What I haven’t mentioned is that I’m writing an episode for Season 1. The Lift is a podcast series on STRY Radio, produced by 9th Story Studios. It’s reminiscent of an old-time radio show with a Twilight Zone vibe to it. There are two pilot episodes already on the site and season one will be coming soon.
This is exciting new territory for my work as these stories are in audio format rather than print, with background music and sound effects.
I’m excited to be working with everyone involved in this project and honored to have been invited to write an episode. Here’s a link to the writer’s page so you can read a little about the authors that will be writing season 1. Writer’s Lounge
Here’s a little preview to introduce you to Victoria Bigglesworth-Hayes, an important character in the show. The Lift Promo

September 2nd

If you haven’t heard already from my posts on Facebook and Twitter and all that nonsense, I’ve got some exciting news to announce on September 2nd. I can’t say what it is yet but I’ve been waiting anxiously to talk about it.

Quicksilver Highway

I recently saw the movie Quicksilver Highway. Never heard of it before, it just randomly popped up when I was searching for DVD’s to add to my Netflix queue. When I looked up the description I instantly knew I had to see it.

The movie is a two part film adaptation of two of my favorite short stories. Chattery Teeth by Stephen King and The Body Politic by Clive Barker. I read these two gems a few years ago and they’ve always stayed with me.

The movie has kind of a Creepshow vibe to it considering it’s one film with two separate stories. And the best part is: Christopher Lloyd plays the narrator! That was the icing on the cake for me. He’s dressed in gothic attire and has orange hair in the movie. That’s all that can be said about that.

I can’t say the film versions did the stories justice, but still a great film nonetheless. Especially if you like bad movies as much as I do. I just recommend reading the stories first if you’re a fan of King and Barker.

Chattery Teeth by Stephen King can be found in the anthology, Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror edited by Ellen Datlow

The Body Politic can be found in The Inhuman Condition by Clive Barker

I also find it worth mentioning that The Pear Shaped Man by George R. R. Martin is included in the Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror anthology, and it is undeniably one of the most terrifying things I have ever read. For two weeks after reading it someone kept leaving cheese doodles in random places all over the house. You’ll get it if you read the story…

The Carnage Conservatory

I’m excited to announce that my story ‘Scrap Paper’ has been published by The Carnage Conservatory. It’s my first re-print, as this story was first published in Sanitarium Magazine, issue #26. If you’ve never read it, or would like to read it again (it’s one of my personal favorites of my own work) click the link below. Plus there’s other great stories by other great authors. Read and enjoy.
